This is a piece from a series I did titled The Toft Affair. It’s fueled by the story of Mary Toft who gave birth to rabbits in 1726 England.
Amelia Biewald received a BFA with honors from the Rhode Island School of Design and Goldsmith’s College, University of London, and then pursued installation and sculptural work at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design where she received her MFA. She was awarded a fellowship to the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2004 and has received many artist awards, residencies, and fellowships for her work including, a Bush Foundation Fellowship, a Jerome Foundation Fellowship, and a MN State Arts Board Fellowship. She was awarded space by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and spent time at Art Garda Residency in Sirmione, Italy. Amelia works as a professional artist and curator internationally, and this combined with her love of nature and the outdoors brought her to the beautiful Hudson Valley. She is the founder and director of Army Of Frogs Studio and in High Falls, NY.
