On Saturday, December 14, 2024, Open Source Gallery will host our annual gala at BrooklynWorks at 159 in conjunction with our auction of work by over 60 contemporary artists (view artwork here)

For eighteen years, Open Source Gallery has energized diverse communities around artistic expression, sustainability, and social engagement. In the last year alone we presented five site-specific art exhibitions and over 50 free public events, from live music and storytelling, to remedy-making, dinner parties, and makeovers. Through our education program, KoKo NYC, we have helped over 2,500 kids see possibilities, problem solve, create, and explore, experiment, build houses, construct soapbox cars, create art, and more. As we look ahead to 2025, we need your help to meet every exciting opportunity and challenge so that we can continue to create a safe and free space for experimentation, conversation, and play.

Open Source Gallery stands firm in its commitment to fostering inclusivity, collaboration, and creativity. I believe that now, more than ever, the arts must provide a vital space for meaningful conversations, uniting diverse voices to inspire change. Through its exhibition and education programs, community partnerships, and commitment to fair wages for artists via W.A.G.E., Open Source advances its mission to build a more connected and equitable community through the transformative power of art.

– Danielle Bias, OSG Board Member and Chief Communications Officer at MOCA

Our annual gala and art auction provide critical funding that sustains the organization. We not only present dozens of programs for the public each year, but also employ a staff of over 30 teaching artists and professionals, offer free education programs in underserved communities, and support over 75 artists annually through production budgets, fair wages, and curatorial services. We need your help to continue to support artists, empower kids, and provide transformative experiences for all!

Our art auction offers an opportunity to support Open Source while also collecting valuable artworks from both emerging and established artists. All art included in the auction will be displayed in person during the gala.

We rely on your contributions to continue supporting artists, kids, and the community throughout Brooklyn and beyond! We look forward to welcoming you to our gala this year. Buy tickets now!

Not able to make it to the Gala but still want to support us? You can make a donation here, and reach out to us at contact@opensourcegallery.org  if you would like to participate in the art auction by proxy.

Open Source Gallery’s mission to be “open source” means collaborating with our community to learn, grow, and support each other. For our Gala this year, we are partnering with other organizations that sustain our neighborhoods to share our audiences and raise funds together, because we believe that we are always stronger together. Our partners receive 25% of the proceeds from ticket sales made through their organization.
