The Gift of this moment is the Imagination

Join us for an online studio visit with Patricia Watwood who’s going to share fresh work in process from the studio, and talk about diving into narrative worlds of possibility.  Watwood’s complex narratives are constructed from a multi-stage process of life drawing, sketching, painting from observation, and inventing pictorial space.    During quarantine, I’ve had to adapt my  processes, including video and photography, and rethink content as we all ponder where we are now, and what matters in making art.

Patricia Watwood was born in 1971 in  St. Louis, Missouri and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY. Patricia Watwood is a leading figure in the contemporary figurative movement. .  Her subjects are primarily women and figures, and she incorporates mythic imagery and narratives. Her work has been exhibited at the Beijing World Art Museum, The European Museum of Modern Art, The Butler Museum, and is in the collections of The St. Louis University Museum of Art, and The New Britain Museum of American Art.
