Open Source Gallery stands in solidarity with the ongoing protests and the demands for social justice and equality.

We condemn the policy brutality that has allowed for the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, Jamel Floyd and countless others. We stand with our friends, families and neighbors in black communities who have been impacted by systemic racism. We are committed to pulling this insidious structure out by its roots.

It’s time for a change.

Below are some actions we encourage everyone to take:

Contact your legislators to support repeal of 50A, which shields police disciplinary records, personnel files and related material from public disclosure. Here you can find sample scripts that you can use to fight for accountability.

Support calls to #DefundThePolice. Learn more about this movement here.

Maintain an intersectional view on social issues. Recognize that Black Lives Matter and also recognize that Black Trans Lives Matter. Support calls for justice for Tony McDade and Iyanna Dior.

If you are white, listen and learn how to become a good ally.

Support Black Lives Matter and the important work they are doing.

Support the Brooklyn Community Bail Fund, which challenges the racism, inequality, and injustice of a criminal legal system and immigration and deportation regime that disproportionately targets and harms low-income communities of color.

There are millions of ways to fight for justice. Find more here.
