This workshop focuses on the use of art therapy to build community & creatively explore what it means to be human. Art Therapist, Julia Volonts, will discuss her work in creating art therapy experiences that connect people from around the world, followed by a hands-on art therapy activity. Participants will experience how art acts as a therapeutic tool in collectively exploring what it means to be human, alone and together. There is no prior art skills or experience needed to participate!
Julia Volonts is a Licensed and Board-Certified Art Therapist with a Master of Professional Studies in Art Therapy from the School of Visual Arts. Her background is in educational, community, and private proactive settings and ranges from work with children and families, adolescents, and adults. In 2019, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to conduct art therapy research in Riga, Latvia. During the pandemic, she worked with non-profit and community organizations to provide art therapy workshops and groups to process this time of uncertainty. She has since founded Art Therapy Lab, a small incubator that develops virtual art therapy experiences through in-house services & collaborative projects.
