Shooting Stories of Sustainability

June 9, 2019
11:00am
Join us at the cHURCH where Ambika Samarthya-Howard will present Shooting Stories of Sustainability: How to incorporate filming in environmental movements. This is a free event. Bagels and coffee will be served.
During this event, Ambika will speak about different ways to conceptualize social change and documentary filming from the perspective of collaborating across disciplines. Using specific examples from Storytelling with Saris–a collaborative art and advocacy project that uses saris, writing, oral history, performance, and film to empower communities to address climate change–she’ll discuss how community, performance art, and environmental issues can be woven together.
Ambika Samarthya-Howard is a video producer and head of communications at human rights organization WITNESS. She is formerly the Head of Communications for Praekelt.org. Ambika received her MFA in Film at Columbia University and has done art and media projects in Japan, Bollywood, and West Africa.
