QUARANTINE JAM 8/8

Mara Rosenbloom Synth
Ken Filiano Bass
Vijay Anderson Drums

Pianist, composer, & bandleader Mara Rosenbloom has been called “a whole hearted poet of the piano,” – she is a builder & a synthesist; a fiercely lyrical composer & improviser (All About Jazz). With an interest in building community by encouraging honest expression and interactive dialogue through music – human connection has been a focus of Rosenbloom’s work throughout the past decade, and as a result, powerful group interaction has become a hallmark of Rosenbloom’s sound.

During the pandemic, opportunities to be in the same room with a piano and a listening audience simultaneously have become scarce, nudging Rosenbloom to explore incorporating electronics into her sound – either transmitting the sound of her home piano through Zoom, or performing outdoors as she’ll be doing this evening, by way of a small 32 key synthesizer.

Rosenbloom will be joined by Vijay Anderson on drums, with whom she co-leads the much discussed but rarely heard duo Fishmonger, and master improviser/bassist Ken Filiano.
