A partir de diciembre, @opensourcegallery organizará una serie de comidas gratuitas, cocinadas por chefs voluntarios. Las comidas serán las noches del 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21 y 22 de diciembre. La comida está disponible de 7 a 9 pm y no es necesario registrarse para venir a comer. ¡Todas las edades son bienvenidas!

OPEN KITCHEN
The former Open Source Soup Kitchen – now called Open Kitchen is ready for you to sign up!!
Each year the Open Kitchen brings together artists, cooks, friends, and neighbors for a month of cooking, eating, sharing and celebrating!
For at least 8 nights, given that we have volunteers, we will provide a simple dinner to our community. You can be our Volunteer chef for one of the nights and be responsible for a “one-pot meal” (usually a soup or stew) that can feed approximately 15-20 people (cookware and utensils and a hotplate is at the gallery). All meals are served between 7:00-9:00pm. We welcome all kinds of unique dishes from any ethnic tradition! The cook of the night is also encouraged for incorporating an artistic element into the evening–it can be a one-night exhibit, musical performance, short play, or decoration of the gallery!
Attendees of the Open Kitchen are neighbors, artists, people who are down on their luck, or some who are simply hungry. Sometimes the conversation flows easily, sometimes not, but the food is nearly always tasty (it’s New York, after all–we have standards!) Join us for good food, good art, and good conversation–and bring your friends, family, and neighbours!

¡Cada año Open Kitchen reúne a artistas, cocineros, amigos y vecinos durante un mes para cocinar, comer, compartir y celebrar!
Durante al menos 8 noches, dado que contamos con voluntarios, brindaremos una cena sencilla a nuestra comunidad. Puedes ser nuestro chef voluntario durante una de las noches y ser responsable de una “comida en una sola olla” (generalmente una sopa o guiso) que puede alimentar a aproximadamente 15 a 20 personas (los utensilios de cocina y una hornillo están en la galería). Todas las comidas se sirven entre las 7:00 y las 9:00 p.m. ¡Damos la bienvenida a todo tipo de platos únicos de cualquier tradición étnica! Los asistentes a la Open Kitchen son vecinos, artistas, gente desafortunada o algunos que simplemente tienen hambre. A veces la conversación fluye con facilidad, a veces no, pero la comida casi siempre es deliciosa (después de todo, es Nueva York; ¡tenemos estándares!). Únase a nosotros para disfrutar de buena comida, buen arte y buena conversación, y traiga a sus amigos, familiares y vecinos!

Mike Durkin’s project, and you will know it’s done, when the oil stops bubbling, which looks at the role that food and the sharing of recipes play in different communities. The project will culminate in a night at Open Source for Open Kitchen.
