Matt Quinn: Cyanotype Wreck Study 12-2025

DESCRIPTION

Matt Quinn, Cyanotype Wreck Study 12-2025, 2025, 6″x8″ image on 9″x11″ paper, Cyanotype Photogram on Paper, Edition 1 of 5

Cyanotype photogram of wooden sculpture on paper.

The image is produced by arranging fragments of 3 dimensional wooden sculpture directly onto hand-sensitized paper. The wood is sourced from the veneers of old family furniture and discarded objects found on the streets of Brooklyn. The splinters and slivers have all recycled through multiple years of the artist’s work.

Through of small adjustments and experimentation, there’s a push and pull of focus, depth of field, and composition.

The setup for the image is repeatable and here is an edition of 5, but as the process is performed by hand, there are minute and unique differences between each.

This edition of prints is part of an ongoing series of studies which are meditations and reflections of decay, construction, disasters, floods, architecture, chaos, entropy, and silence.

Value: $250
