Looking for interested professionals to be part of Koko’s education committee

2021 is here. We are starting a new KoKo* year!  And we need some help! We want to take the opportunity to improve our arts-based, kid-focused, environmentally-aware science and engineering programming — to make KokoNYC more accessible to all NYC kids, create better lesson plans, explain our ideas, and create more accessible programming!

For this reason we’re looking for interested professionals to join a KoKo education committee.

Those interested in participating will be professionals who are enthusiastic about Koko’s Core Values and current programs. We’re seeking individuals with diverse experiences and backgrounds. Participants may be educators, teaching artists, community organizers, grant writers or people with social media or marketing experience.

This position is voluntary and unpaid. The committee will meet monthly or bi-monthly (to be decided by the group) via Zoom to develop plans for improvement of KoKo NYC. We are committed to inclusion, equity, and accessibility; we are actively looking to increase the diversity of our organization so that we may better serve children and adults throughout NYC.

Please send a resume to monika@kokonyc.org if you are interested in joining the committee.

*KoKo NYC is the arts education wing of Open Source Gallery, a non-profit arts organization based in Brooklyn, and we’ve served over 8,000 children through programs in schools, the Brooklyn Public Library, and the CAMBA Flagstone family homeless shelter. Koko seeks to educate kids and adults alike about our impact on our environment. Our arts-based science and engineering programs are meant to empower kids of all walks of life and we’re interested in pushing kids to be able to act more responsibly towards their peers and their environment. We encourage them to take risks and believe in their own ability to make a difference. But the most important part is the approach: Koko means having fun!
