Lo Li grew up in Crown Heights Brooklyn, raised by a single mom. Completely self-taught, my artistic purpose is to showcase the wonders of afro-fantasy and futurism.
The little mermaid is based off the author’s lover – little known fact – this shows the permanence of our community, as well as the impact queer love on our culture. I remade them as black men, to more reflect my experience.
