OS Gowanus | The Space | The Location | The Building | Artist-In-Residence Program | KoKo NYC | Koko Y Gallery

KoKo Y Gallery is a youth-driven and youth-organized project on the second floor of OS Gowanus.

Nestled comfortably between birth and death, youth inspire culture through resistance, rebellion, and a demand for change in a society that they will soon lead. Their perspective gives them the unique ability to defy their impending nothingness. They see no end to themselves, their potential, and the ways they can impact their environments.

The KoKo Y Gallery is a platform for progressive conversations about the youth experiences surrounding art in NYC. Using a wide variety of mediums, artists, ages fifteen to twenty, will gain an audience, and comradery with other socially-engaged young people. Together, we will be able to channel our underutilized passions into cohesive actions. Through art, we hope to transform ourselves and our values, by providing entertainment that is radically different from our modern party culture, and instead celebrating our creativity and intellect. In order to represent youth and to foster meaningful communication, we aim to provide representation to young people of all genders, sexualities, races, religions, abilities, classes, backgrounds, and neighborhoods.

By creating works and discussions surrounding the messages that matter to creative people, the immortality of youth manifests as the influence we have on the world’s politics, values, and people.
