Jermaine Valentine is an artist from Brooklyn, NY, self-taught Photographer and Creative Director I create a visualization, acceptance, visibility & Harmony in my work I believe that all people have a story someone can relate to, so I portray creative ways & photos showcasing these aspects of people.

To me Queer Advocacy feels like Actively speaking up for policies, social change in your community, connecting with others, and following legal protections that defend queer rights. To keep each other safe. I am Empowered everyday by my community Supporting queer individuals owning their identities, dreams, and voices through my art and I hope people can see and feel from my Photos.

Captured in real time Empowerment means creating spaces where people can share their stories and finally be seen.

Autonomy is to believe that us queer people should have control over their lives, bodies which to me I agree with. To be Free

Furthermore, Art for me is me letting go of oppression in my head, letting go and creating what I want. Also making others feel seen and also seeing their creativity come to life is very inspiring to me.

Through art, I’m able to create something that resonates with my experiences whether it’s joy, pain, pride, or the complexity of living as a queer person. It lets me navigate and celebrate my identity in ways that are both personal and universal.

Lastly, I do feel Advocacy is my survival tool. It’s about standing up for myself and others, whether that’s challenging homophobia, transphobia, or simply pushing for more inclusive spaces.
