Open Sound: The Michael Sarian Quartet

The Michael Sarian Quartet “create[s] alternatively forceful and haunting sounds that dwell outside of the jazz mainstream in their own realm of beauty” (Jerome Wilson, AllAboutJazz). They have released two albums with ears&eyes Records, New Aurora in 2020, garnering Sarian praise for his “unique compositional and instrumental voice” (Friedrich Kunzmann, All About Jazz) and Living at the End of the World in 2022, “a must-listen for fans of innovative and captivating jazz” (Matt Micucci, JAZZIZ Magazine) which showcased the trumpeter’s “endlessly renewable strain of lyric improvisation regardless of context or material.” (Peter Margasak, Downbeat Magazine). Their third album, recorded live at the legendary Cliff Bell’s in Detroit, is set for release in September of 2024.
