Celeste Fichter, Torres del Paine, 2020, 14 x 9 inches, c-print

Torres del Paine is part of an ongoing project titled Geo that was born at the start of the pandemic. It is focused on the representation of nature and how we ‘see’ the natural world through mediated landscapes. Using a combination of digital and analog collage, Fichter juxtaposes made and found images with seemingly unrelated objects, both real and virtual – bringing the outdoors indoor and the indoors outdoor.

Celeste Fichter holds a MFA in Photograph and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in NYC. She has had solo exhibitions at SIDE Door Presents (NY), 57W57 Arts (NYC), Point of Contact Gallery at Syracuse University, Go North Gallery (NY), PH Gallery (NYC), and Boyden Gallery at St Mary’s College (MD). Her work has been in group exhibitions at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Islip Art Museum, and the Bronx Museum of Art. She lives and works in Brooklyn.

Open Source is a participant-driven art initiative in Brooklyn, NY that provides space, community and conceptual context for creative play and critical commentary.
