Open Sound 2025 is the 6th year of our a weekly music series taking place at Open Source Gallery on Wednesdays in the summer. Curated by Lily White, Open Sound features a variety of musicians and genres.
For the summer of 2025 we are seeking musicians/bands to play live performances for an audience. This program is funded by Open Source and will take place between June 4th and September 24th.
Things to know:
- Open Source is an arts-based non-profit organization inspired by the open source movement. In the spirit of this free exchange of knowledge, we provide a forum where art intersects with the community and the world at large. Open Source energizes a diverse and creative community of all ages and backgrounds with an emphasis on expression, experimentation, sustainability, and social engagement.
- Open Source is an art gallery and the performances scheduled depend on the exhibition on view. Art at Open Source is often very delicate, impacting how we arrange the band in or outside of the gallery.
- Open Source is in a residential neighborhood and we have neighbors of all ages who like their peace and privacy. They love music, but loud drums or amplified guitars can sometimes be a problem for our close neighbors. We respect this and schedule performances with this in mind.
- Open Source’s audience will be on the street/sidewalk. There is a constant noise level from the street and the adjacent highway.
- Open Source will pay $75 per musician (up to 4 musicians). The tips from the audience will go to the band and can be distributed by the band members.
- At least one application (two if we are able to host 10 sessions) for performances will be selected by a jury (to be announced)
- Currently, we are planning to host at least five sessions, but are hoping to raise enough money to host ten – if you’d like to help out, please make a donation!
