When is camp?

  • Summer Soap Box Camp 2016 will take place M-F from July 18th-August 26th. Summer camp is from 9-2 pm with the option for after camp care until 6 pm.  Kids can come for all multiple weeks or one week! Everyone makes a car and help prepare for the derby! All cars race in the final Soap Box Derby, date TBD. This summer will be the EIGTH annual race!!!
  • Winter Break Camp 2016 will take place M-F on Feb 15-19, 2016 from 9-4:30 with the option for after camp care until 5:30.
  • Spring Break Camp 2016 will take place M-F on April 25-29, 2016 from 9-4:30 with the option for after camp care until 5:30.

Registration and workshop details will be posted on our website one month prior to workshop start dates.

Where is the camp located?

Previous camps have taken place at the Beam Center on 60 Sackett Street in Red Hook. Check back here one month prior to the workshop to confirm the location.

Can I bring my recyclables?

Yes! Found materials are welcome.

Through the use of digital art technology, this Character Animation course invites children to engage in the creation of digital character building. Children will practice various design applications- from making their own cartoon-like icon and applying their characters onto a t-shirt and display plate to animating their ideas into a 1 minute clip! They will learn multiple design skills, including the process of building character ideas, different sketching techniques, 3D paper modeling, making T-shirt designs and a computer generated animation.
