PROSCENIUM: jan 10th – feb 6th
Opening reception on Saturday, January 17th, from 7-10pm
Open Source Gallery presents “PROSCENIUM”, a video installation that will reframe foot traffic along South Slope’s 17th street this winter. From January 10 – February 6, 2009, a video loop will be projected onto the storefront window from the gallery’s interior. The videos themselves are a collection of gestures and actions that are as much about mood as they are about space. Join us for an opening reception on Saturday, January 17th, from 7-10pm. More details on “PROSCENIUM” and the Open Source Gallery can be found at www.open-source-gallery.org.
“The interior of the gallery will function as a stage while the window will be the proscenium or “4th wall”. The video loop will serve as the performance and the dramatic “interjection” out onto the street and to the passerby.”
“PROSCENIUM” features works by artists: Ethan Crenson and Amand Alic, Mark Chandler, Leigh Davis, Stefanie Koseff, Pascal Murer, Serge Onnen, and Miho Suzuki.

SOUP KITCHEN 12.1 – 12.24
For the month of December, open-source-gallery is about Cooking, Eating, Sharing, Celebrating…
We asked artists, cooks, friends and neighbors to volunteer to cook for SOUP KITCHEN, where for 24 days, we are offering a “one-pot meal” to all on a first come, first serve basis. We ask everybody to stop in and join us to taste the great food.
The food is for everybody and it is free.
Unique dishes from any ethnic tradition are offered every day. Each participant can arrange and work with the place, there is a projector to use, walls to hang pictures- a solo show if you will, the place may be decorated or not at the volunteers own discretion. The necessary cookware and utensils and help is offered by us. We ask that volunteers (cooks and guests) supply the love.
So once again: SOUP KITCHEN is free and open to the public.
Meals will be served around 5-7pm.
CHEERS und LET’S EAT,
Gary and Monika
To all participants and everybody else interested: we are very pleased to have a lot of volunteers (we still need a few more – see list below). Now we also need people to eat, so please help spread the word! You can download the Flyer:newestsoupflyer.pdf – or come to the gallery/house to get some.
Thank you so much
